Enjoy fiery sunsets, and warm water from the Gulf of Mexico

Picture sugar-white sand as soft as powder, fiery sunsets, and warm water from the Gulf of Mexico. That is what you will find when you dig your toes in at Clearwater Beach! It’s no wonder TripAdvisor has named it the best beach in the US for 2016, 2018, and 2019!

Speaking of that warm Gulf water, enjoy this award-winning beach year-round! Highs in the summer average between 82-88 degrees, and in winter, water temperature hovers around 70 degrees. So, jump in no matter the time of year! Love spotting swimming wildlife? You will undoubtedly spot playful creatures frolicking around in the Gulf, whether you spend your time sitting on the beach or taking a chartered dolphin tour,

Looking for more to do than sit and soak up the sun on the beach? Take a break to visit the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. There you can see Hope the dolphin, one of the stars of the Dolphin Tale and Dolphin Tale 2 movies. While you are there, observe and learn what it’s like to work in an animal hospital and how injured marine life is rescued and rehabilitated. At the aquarium, you’ll love meeting the rescued marine animals: Loggerhead turtles, a variety of sea turtles, in addition to native Florida species such as white pelicans, otters, stingrays, and sharks, just to name a few of the inhabitants.

Also, at the aquarium, take a boat ride and check out the Dolphin and Wildlife Boat Tour on the beautiful Clearwater Bay. As a naturalist narrates the trip, you’ll learn about the St. Petersburg and Clearwater’s dolphin populations, as well as fascinating facts about other Florida wildlife spotted along the way.

When hunger strikes, the Clearwater Beach area has a wide variety of delicious cuisine to go along with stunning views of the beach! From stand-alone food carts to fine, five-star dining, there’s something for everyone! As a bonus, many cafes, restaurants, and dinners create their menus to feature locally caught seafood, tropical drinks, and unforgettable desserts. Yum!

The fun continues after the sun goes down too. After spending the day soaking in the Clearwater Beach sunshine, spend the evening at Pier 60. Nightly join in on the year-round sunset celebration. You’ll see a variety of street performers, talented artisans and their creations, and of course, world-famous sunsets. Since 1995, this nightly celebration has been offered as a free, family-friendly experience for tourists and locals. Or skip the celebration and enjoy live entertainment while you shop local vendors, all with an incredible sunset as the backdrop.

During its 25-year history, Pier 60 has hosted numerous special events. These include Beach Fest, Caribbean Christmas Art Show, and The FantaSea of Lights. In 2013, a new event called the Sugar Sand Festival was hosted in conjunction with the city of Clearwater. This festival is a 17-day, beach-wide celebration of Clearwater Beach’s natural assets: the glimmering, soft sugar-like sand and breathtaking sunsets. During this celebration, over 14 sand sculptors use upwards of 1,000 tons of that famous Clearwater Beach sand to create a one-of-a-kind, walk-through art exhibit, which is housed in a 21,000 square-foot structure. A truly unique and breathtaking combination!

If you have the time, Clearwater Beach has an abundance of places to stay. There’s a place for you to rest your head from family-friendly motels, quaint inns, comfortable hotels, and luxury resorts!

All visitors to Clearwater Beach will agree that there’s absolutely nothing better than ending a day of sun and fun, sightseeing, shopping, and dolphin sightings than by catching a fiery, tropical sunset. So, pull up a chair and watch nature showing off each and every night!
